Sonja Fordham, policy director for the Shark Alliance, will give a presentation on the conservation of sharks, some of our oceans’ most misunderstood and threatened animals. The talk will review the species and population status of sharks in European waters, including the Baltic Sea. Ms. Fordham will also explain the opportunities that concerned citizens, including Finns, have to help secure a brighter future for these vulnerable fish on a regional and global scale.The Shark Alliance is a non-profit coalition of 75 conservation, scientific, and recreational organizations dedicated to improving shark fishing policies in the EU and around the world. Ms. Fordham is an American of Finnish descent who recently obtained Finnish citizenship. Currently based in Brussels, she visits her family in Finland regularly.
